Dear Mr. Scott McKee,

This letter is to inform you that as of today, June 25, 2017, your employment with American Legion, Department of California is terminated. Your employment is at-will, which allows the Department to end the employer-employee relationship without notice and without reason.

The American Legion, Department of California is suffering a serious economic downturn.  Due to the projected increases in VA&R operating expenses, and a current significant decrease in Ways and Means Revenue, the Department has no other choice but to eliminate the position of Department Service Officer.

Your final paycheck is enclosed.  This paycheck includes all wages owed to you and all acquired vacation time.  Within 30 days, you will be mailed information regarding your eligibility under COBRA for insurance benefits and the status and amounts of any other benefits or retirement plans.

Please return all department property to the Department Adjutant or his designee no later than June 28th, 2017
